SUMMER 2004
During the summer of 2004, the Huntington Yacht Club will have a Junior Sailing Program open to both members and non-members. The program is designed for children ages seven to seventeen. We have a program for all ability levels from beginner to advanced racing.
The four types of boats we will be using are Optimists, Blue Jays, Lasers and club 420's (Laser and 420 sailors must supply their own boats). The 420 being used is the club 420 not the international 420. As the sailors progress in ability, they may wish to enter in away Regattas on the Long Island Sound. Please note that instructors will not tow boats to away Regattas.
As in the past, we offer HYC members the first opportunity to enroll in the program. Our program had a large enrollment last year and therefore the club would like you to enroll early, so that we can do what is necessary to maintain a balanced program. After May 15th, the program will be open to non-members as well as on a first-come first-served basis.
The program will begin on Friday, June 25th for the novice group and Thursday, June 24th for the advanced group. The program will continue for seven weeks until Friday, August 13th concluding with the End of Year Dinner. Children are expected to attend on their scheduled days (Monday, Wednesday and alternate Fridays for novice and Tuesday, Thursday and alternate Friday's for the advanced.
